INTERNATIONAL ADMISSION IN THAILAND : British and American studies Thammasart university



 





Basic entry requirements for all applicants
1. Applicant must hold a secondary school certificate (M.6) or its equivalent
2. The following criteria must also be fulfilled:
3. A minimum secondary school GPA of 2.5 (or equivalent results such as GCE, GCSE, IGCSE, IB and GED); OR
4. GCE, GCSE or IGCSE results must not be lower than "C" in five different subjects (Excluding GCE 'O' Level for Thai Language);
5. IB exam results must not be lower than "4" in five different subjects;
6. GED results must be at least 2250 scores, combining all five subjects taken, and the score in each subject should reach a minimum of 410;
- New Zealand results must be equivalent to an average of 2.5 due to the calculation of Embassy of New Zealand;
- If an applicant does not have a GPA result in hand, he/she must submit a transcript, grade report, or relevant documents showing academic performance on the Application Submission Day.

- IELTS overall band score with a score of 5.0 or above, OR;
- TOEFL with a total score of 173 (computer-based) or 59 (internet-based) or above, OR;

- National Entrance Examination or O-Net with a minimum score/percentage of 70 (English) and 50 (Social Studies)

Application forms submission (during office hours)
Applicants must submit their application form and other relevant documents at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammsat University (Prachan Campus). Those unable to submit these by themselves may request another person to process the application on their behalf, in which case an authorization letter and the authorized person's national ID card are also required

Application fee payment
Applicants must pay a non-refundable fee of Bt. 600 payable to: Thammasat University, savings account no. 026-1-52083-0, Krungthai Bank, Thatian Branch.

1. A completed application form with three 1½” photographs:
2. A copy of secondary school certificate (or its equivalent) or a copy of documents as stated in section 3.2.1 (a certified true copy must also be produced);
3. A copy of national ID card (for Thai citizens) or a copy of passport (for non-Thai citizens) (a certified true copy must also be produced);
4. A copy of exam results as stated in section 3.2.2 (a certified true copy must also be produced);
5.  A proof of fee transfer;
6.  For applications by proxy, an authorization letter with a certified copy of the authorized person’s national ID card must be produced;
 7. Applicants from Thai schools (public or private) who have not completed their M.6 (มัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 6) must show evidence that they are a registered student and they are expected to graduate by July 2013. This must be accompanied by proof of successful fulfillment of at least five semesters of high school with a minimum GPA of 2.5;
8. Applicants working towards an Equivalent Secondary School Qualification (การศึกษานอกโรงเรียน) must show proof that they are following the last semester of the curriculum. The BAS programme does not accept applicants who will not officially graduate by July 2013. This must be accompanied by proof of successful fulfillment of at least five semesters of high school with a minimum GPA of 2.5;
9. Applicants from international schools in Thailand must show evidence that they are studying in Grade 12 or its equivalent, or that they expect to graduate at that level prior to registration (end of July 2013). This must be accompanied by proof of successful fulfillment of at least five semesters of high school with a minimum GPA of 2.5;
10. Applicants from schools abroad must show evidence that they are studying in Grade 12 or its equivalent, or that they expect to graduate at that level prior to registration (end of July 2013). All overseas qualifications must be submitted to, accredited and approved by the Thai Ministry of Education. Accreditation by the Ministry must be made available to the BAS programme no later than the first day of the 1/2013 semester. This must be accompanied by proof of successful fulfillment of at least five semesters of high school a minimum GPA of 2.5 Applicants will forfeit their right of entry should these criteria not be met.
11. Applicants with international qualifications (GCE, GCSE, IGCSE, IB etc.) must be in possession of appropriate certificates, or must show evidence that they have taken these qualifying examinations prior to the application submission day. These qualifications must be submitted to, accredited and approved by the Thai Ministry of Education. Accreditation by the Ministry must be made available to the BAS programme no later than the first day of the 1/2013 semester. Applicants will forfeit their right of entry should the results fail to qualify for accreditation. An additional requested document is a letter of reference written by an instructor from your high school, starting your suitability to pursue tertiary education and your personal behavior.

N.B. Regardless of the outcome of application, the BAS Programme WILL NOT return the paid application fee.

Admission Qualifications



  • Applicants must have completed a secondary school (or equivalent) course from an accredited school.
  • Applicants who have not yet fulfilled all the requirements for a secondary school diploma are required to do so prior to entering the Program.
  • Applicants graduating from high school abroad must have their high school diploma accredited by the Ministry of Education
  • Applicants should be proficient in English and have strong foundation in mathematics. Beside they should be in good physical and mental health and have no record of serious misconduct.

    Selection Criteria

    SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS MUST PASS BOTH WRITTEN EXAMINATIONS AND THE INTERVIEW.
  • The written examinations may be fulfilled by one (or more) of the following options: Option 1: SAT : Math + Critical Reading ≥ 1100 and Math ≥ 620
    Option 2: One (or more) of the following scores for "Quantitative section":
    - B.E. Written Examination in Mathematics and Statistics
    - SAT Reasoning Test (Math ≥ 620)
    AND One (or more) of the following scores for "English skill".
    - B.E. Written Examination in English
    - TU-GET ≥ 550
    - TOEFL ≥ 550 (CBT ≥ 213 / IBT ≥ 79)
    - IELTS ≥ 6.0
    Remarks
    * The official score report of SAT Reasoning Test is valid only if the test was taken between November 2010 – November 2012.
    * The official score report of TOEFL/ IELTS/TU-GET is valid only if the test was taken no more than 2 years prior to the last date of the B.E. application submission period. Go to TU-GET for more details on TU-GET.
    * The applicants must submit the official score reports of SAT issued by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) under the code of 0288. Go to www.collegeboard.com for more details on SAT.
  • *THE ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR OVERSEA APPLICANTS (accepted until July 1, 2013)
    1.To be eligible to apply as an oversea applicant, the application must provide the passport showing that the applicant was not in Thailand when the B.E. first selection took place.
    2.To fulfill the written examination, the applicant must submit the official score report of SAT AND at least one of the following scores on English test: TOEFL/IELTS/TU-GET (Please see the required score in the above selection criteria in Option 1 and 2).
    3.Oversea applicants are also required to submit TWO letters of recommendation.

    1. Admission Qualifications
    Completion of M6 or its equivalent levels from high school i.e. grade 12 from American-system schools and O-Level from British-system schools. Approval by the Ministry of Education is required for diplomas of foreign schools.
    2. Admission Requirements
          2.1 Score Submission

    a) SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) score must be from tests taken within year 2011 and 2012 only.  SAT score report(s) must be sent directly to the BBA International Program from the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The code for BBA International Program, Thammasat University is 0288. Go to www.collegeboard.com for more details on SAT.

    Remark
    1.       If any part or total of your SAT (Critical Reading or Math) or SMART-I (any sections) scores is below the minimum requirement as indicated, we reserve the right NOT to consider the candidates for interview.
    2.       The applicants should NOT submit/insert a combination of their best scores of different test sections (taken at different times) for the application.

    3.       The applicants must submit the official score reports of SAT issued by ETS under the code of 0288 and/or SMART-I issued by the SMART center to the BBA International Program.  Failing to do so will result in disqualifying the applicants for interview.
    4.       It is noted that a submission of the minimum scores on either or both tests will NOT necessarily secure your seat for interview.
